President Buhari has ordered the immediate deportation of Nigerians stranded and stuck in Russia after the FIFA World Cup. This was, however, issued in a report released by Garba Shehu, Senior special assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity.
GARBA SHEHU’S STATEMENT READS:
“President Muhammadu Buhari, has ordered Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Hadi Sirika, Minister of State, Aviation, to initiate repatriation process for all Nigerians who went to Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup but got stranded after the competition.”
A statement was, however, published last week about Nigerian football fans who travelled to Russia for the World Cup and got stranded in Russia after failing to secure their return tickets and are stranded in Russia.
Both Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Aviation have, however, complied with President Buhari’s instructions and have taken the necessary steps to bring the Nigerians back home.
