The Federal Government yesterday has approved a 10-year validity period for Nigerian international passports.
The Comptroller-General of Nigerian Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede, made this known during an interview with Channels TV news. He said the validity was extended in a view of reducing the stress Nigerians go through five yearly, to renew international passports.
Muhammed Babandede’s Statement Reads:
” One of the reforms President Buhari has worked on. is that of improving the quality, security of our passport booklets. Ten years after the enrollment of the Nigerian e-passport system, we need to improve the security features. You can’t keep documents for ten years without seeing decreased values in them, so we are improving the security features which would raise the standards of the passports,” the Controller General further stated.
President Buhari has equally approved 10-year validity for passports which is excellent news. however, BillzboxMedia is yet to ascertain when this ten years validation will take effect.
BillzboxMedia, however, truly thinks a Ten year validity for the Nigerian IP, is a top notch decision by the federal government.
