The NLC has suspended its ongoing strike, that started on 26th September 2018.
Speaking with the Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, National President of labour congress, stated that the industrial action had been suspended effective from Sunday, 30th September 2018
This, however, implies that workers are expected to resume back to their respective parastatals, given when all negotiations are finalized with the Federal Government.
Nevertheless, Monday 1st October has been declared a public holiday by the federal government to mark Nigeria@58, October 1st Independence Day, workers are as a result of this expected to resume normal working activities from Tuesday.
Comrade Ayuba Wabba’s Statement:
“We demand that the tripartite negotiating council should be called back to conclude its assignment on minimum wage.”
However, Dr. Chris Ngige, the Minister For Labour and Employment, has assured the NLC that the tripartite committee will reconvene ASAP to complete its negotiation.
