The Federal Government of Nigeria has recently declared that the government is working hard to put up policies that would control the number of childbirth, a mother could have in Nigeria.
This was, however, made public by the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, who uncovered this while addressing to questions during a cross-session at the 24th Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) in Abuja.
Zainab Ahmed expressed that the country’s population had been identified as one of the significant challenges Nigeria is facing, as it confronts the implementation of our ERGP.
Reason Why Nigeria Must Address Birth Rate:
AHMED ZAINAB’S STATEMENT READS:
“We have started engaging traditional rulers and other leaders. Specifically, we have discovered that to be able to address one of the significant challenges that we identified in the ERGP which is the growth in our vast population, we need to engage these institutions.
“Moreover, we hope that with their support, we will get to a point where we can come out with the policy that limits the number of children that a mother can have because that is important for sustaining our growth.”
