Empire star Jussie Smollett who starred as Jamal Lyon, a gay musician who struggles to gain his father’s approval—opposite Taraji P, has been hospitalized after being attacked in Chicago early Tuesday 29th January 2019.
It has been alleged that shortly after Smollett arrived Chicago, Smollett was returning from a Subway while taking a walk when two anonymous offenders advanced on him and gained his notice by shouting out racial and homophobic stigmas towards him.
Reports, however, has it that the angry offenders started to pound Smollett with their hands about the face and poured an unexplained chemical substance on him.
According to reports, one of the angry attackers coiled a rope around Smollett’s neck.
Jussie Smollett self-transported to Northwestern Hospital, after the offenders later retreated and he is said to be in good condition currently.
The Empire Family in reaction to the assault on Jussie Smollett, have issued a statement condemning the attack on Smollett.
