Donald Etim Duke, former governor of Cross River State and supposed Presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party, (SDP), has issued an official statement disenfranchising himself from the decision, as reached by the SPD to form an affiliate with President Muhammadu Buhari, in the Feb 16 Presidential elections.

However, it will be recalled that recently, the SDP has reached a consensus saying they have absorbed president Muhammadu Buhari, as its presidential candidate.
According to Donald Duke, who expressed dissatisfaction on the decision reached by the National Executive committee (NEC) of the SDP says, the committee claimed to have arrived on this decision following the legal saga that had lingered between Prof. Jerry Gana and Donald Duke.

Nevertheless, the Federal Court of Appeal has ruled saying Mr Donald Duke, was free to run for the presidency at a time under the platform of the SDP.
Notwithstanding this decision reached by the National Executive Committee of the Social Democratic Party, Donald Duke has issued a statement saying ” I am still on the ballot for Presidency.”
