The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has declared suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen guilty and banned him from holding any public office for the next 10 years.
Recall that Onnoghen was convicted on a six-count charge of false declaration of assets and suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari in January.
While delivering the judgement on Thursday, Chairman of the CCT, Danladi Umar, noted that it has been proven that the former Chief justice breached the Code of Conduct for public officers.
Mr. Danladi also maintained that Onnoghen will be removed from office as the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
Consequently, the CCT has issued a directive for all monies in the account which he failed to declare between 2009 and 2015 to be seized and fortified to the Federal Government.
