New heavyweight champion, Andy Ruiz says he will only agree to a rematch with Anthony Joshua in the UK if he is paid $50million.
This comes just days after Joshua activated a rematch clause with the new champion following a humiliating loss to the Mexican heavyweight.
Ruiz who has suddenly become a household name in America and all over the world has warned that if his purse demands are not met, he would not avail himself for the rematch.
In his words:
‘‘Right now my team, they’re negotiating everything right now. I’ve just got to stay busy, stay healthy and be ready for the rematch,’ he told Fight Hub.
‘I’d love it to be here in the United States or in Mexico you know. It all depends on the team and what they negotiate. ‘If they want me to go over there, they’ve got to give me $50million. If they want to come over here…It’s just negotiations you know.’’
Meanwhile, as Joshua remains determined to gain revenge over Ruiz and regain the three world titles he recently lost, critics have urged the 29-year-old to sack his long-term coach, Rob McCracken.
