Spotify is introducing a new feature that allows artists to raise money through their artist profiles.
The initiative which is supporTed by CashApp, GoFundMe and PayPal is aimed at helping artists who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
These artists can get to raise money to support themselves and their crews, as well as organizations participating in the Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief project.
As soon as an artist joins this program, users see the donation option on the artist’s profile and can be able to donate via the artist’s preferred platform.
The destination of the money will be clearly explained as well.
Recall that Apple had announced earlier in the month that it has established a $50 million advance royalty fund to aid indie labels affected by the pandemic.
Both platforms seem to be taking a step in the right direction considering how hard the music and entertaiment industry in general have been hit.
